This is what relic should have done rather than failed faction OKW.Instead of 2 lategame defense oriented low model count squad(reflecting low manpower) german armies they should have made one mid-war german army that actually represented it at it peak something like a 1942 wehrmacht around stalingrad.It would be a mobile aggresive faction not camping and based on light vehicle,medium vehicle play not late game uber tanks.

5 man Landser(With k98 and stick grenade)

Sdkfz- 251 Halftrack(upgrade - 75 mm short barrel stummel for infantry fire support or 3.7 cm pak36 mount for AT snare and light vehicle)
Pak 38 50 mm AT gun(with camo)

Panzer III(50mm L/60 gun)
Sdkfz 10 Heavy halftrack with flak gun mount
Nebelwerfer 41 towed rocket artillery
Marder III Tank destroyer
5 man Schutzen( Panzerknckaer hollow charge AT mine for very close range AT,with 2 upgradable LMG as in reality on motorized/pzgren squads)
Panzer IV F2(75mm gun)
88 mm Flak 36(Slow but mobile ,towed on tractor)


Doctrines -

1.Fire Assault(all-game fire support specialist)

Tungsten-core Panzergranate Rounds(More penetration for tanks and at guns)
105mm artillery barrage


Thus above faction would be mobile,dependent on good infantry,light vehicles and medium tanks.
With a weak mg,light mortar,light AT gun and no sniper camping ability would be limited.
It would compensate for lack of heavies with 88 mm like germans did in this period.It could get tiger if chosen doctrinally.Tungsten rounds would also help mediums kill armoured opponents if infilration chosen.Or it could chose siege type fireassault doctrine,but would lack lategame armor .

Make it happen relic.We don't need another 1943 italy campy german army.

The Wehrmacht that was active in Russia in 1942 was not at its peak operational wise, but more or less at its peak territory wise. The peak you refer to, was in 1941, when a general offensive could be launched on all the sectors of the frontier in Russia (read Heeres gruppe North, Center and South), something the Wehrmacht couldn't pull of anymore after the failed Operation Barbarossa and the Battle of Moscow and the Russian counterattack that followed. You can quite evidently see this as the 1942 Summer campaign "Fall Blau" was launched in one sector of the front, while the North and Center sections had to do with more or less defending and pushing back overextending Russian forces.

It is true that the 1942 summer campaign was mobile and vast, but this is because the southern realm of Russia (read in the direction of the Caucasus), was largely rolling planes upon planes of grassland with a village and a major city here and there. After action reports of Paulis's 6th army even tell of Russian forces that retreat strategically and don't let themselves be encircled with ease like they did in 1941, resulting in a mobile chase all the way to the Volga and Stalingrad itself. Now I say mobile, but 90% of army group south was horse drawn or either on foot.

Now this doesn't mean that the Eastern formations of the Wehrmacht in 1942 weren't a force to be reckoned with, the contrary is most definitely true. But they weren't at their peak any more, the strength of 1941 could never be achieved again, let alone a general offensive on all sectors of the front.

It is misconceptions like the one you made and for example the misconception that the Wehrmacht of 1943 was pretty much defeated before Kurks even started, that create the awful situation we see in video games that cover WW2. Coh2 has the same stigma, with a 1944 Western Front OKW faction that is designed to overwhelm their enemy due to brute force with a lot of armored beasts, based upon one offensive operation that was done with fuel shortage and practically no air cover, but the cover of bad weather.

It makes no sense and the OKW is in no shape, way or form a representation of anything that fought as a German unit or army on the Western front in the winter of 1944.

On the other hand, I like your ideas! :)

And plz no don't copy paste units from Vcoh, i do'nt want the same unit in another game :(<444>_<444>

OKW need a buff to the volks, an MG in HQ, Speciaslit AA perfoms better like luchs needs to take like one more hit before failing miserably and better accuracy on the move, flaktrack needs the preparation time reduce, or something like it can move when flak deployed but way slower than normal
