This tactic is ok if you play mech assult in 4v4. But you have to be careful with early scout car, bren and etc. However, by doing this you will be able to get at a little bit early and panzergrens .

Nice Tactic.
I usually do.
Spend all MP on MG's and Pios, building wire and tank traps from basically end to end, with the MG's covering the Pios, while team mates focus on capping.
This allows me to funnel his troops/tanks into my kill zones.
Now if I'm playing with slightly less skilled players, this strategy is usually a loss, as they rush a t70.
If allies are good, they crank out AT to negate t70.

I've played a handful of (1v1) games recently building 1 mg and going all in on ass grens. I've had some pretty good luck with it too. It seems that most arent prepared to deal with two assgren squads in first engagements.
It leaves you reasonably vulnerable to the inevitable AEC, so I try to not get greedy keeping my pios out capping to get the T2 up as quickly as possible.
I also try not to use the grenades, the muni is needed for a shrekd pgren squad that I pair with 222, It generally can handle the aec in a timely fashion.
Double paks and double stug E, wait for tiger.
Give it a try sometime, it is pretty fun.

I don't know if I support skipping T1 altogether as it ends up leaving you vulnerable to tactics where someone would use MGs or make use of buildings a lot. Even when using Ostruppen it is a good idea to get T1 as you will likely need snipers and mortars at some point in the game. Normally I see people going T1 after they get some call in troops on the field so they can have a more diverse army.
I also don't agree with the statement that T1 units don't scale well into the late game. Grens, snipers and mortars are all units that retain effectiveness (with some upgrades as well) in the mid and late game.

Please note that when you are playing with Ostruppen, the tier 1 building serves the same purpose as the AT grenade upgrade for conscripts.

I still like to get T1, but I've done a few builds that skipped it.
I've started skipping T3 though which I like a lot.

With AssGren I usually go T2, T1, T3.
No T1 start by using 2-3 AssGren as Shock
T2 for fast AT and PzGren
T1 backtech for Mortar and Gren
T3 for Pz4
