Technically you can't upgrade a 221 into a 222, they were different vehicles.

The CoH2 Scout Car is a weird amalgamation of both vehicles.

No

Wait for British forces.

Anyway, I like 222 as default now. The only problem is it gets obsolete when the first medium hits the field, but if you use it well you will have a great advantage before that.

This goes for every single light.
Also, you can still use it as a scout if you managed to vet it. Slap some spotting scopes on it and you have basically a map hack.

I would just like to see the CoH1 armoured car make a return. That unit was pretty well balanced as far as I can remember. It arrived too early (tech cost problem), but the actual unit was fine.

But it was in a different game. Cant compare that!

stupid thread, the 222 is better than the 221. 5 fuel more makes 0 difference. 55 less muni does.

Pity the current 222 in this patch has a very short shelf life, Captain tier and Quad do a little number on the scout car and leave a very small window for the 222 to do work. It does not help that the 222 model manoeuvres like a tank at times.

Also, the halftrack for less MP and 10 more fuel, gives you reinforcement on the field and the flamer upgrade is pretty nifty for shock value & AI/wiping squads on retreat.

Don't get me wrong, apart from some quirky unit handling, I'm not sure the 222 itself is bad, seems a pretty decently priced unit on the lid, might just be the current timing of the Quad and to a lesser extent Stuart that is making the 222 a bit out of favour.

The 221 was always a bit meh without the upgrade. I'd rather play a bit more MP and fuel than 55 munitions as Ostheer!

What the 222 really needs before we make a new adjustment, change the model as I'm pretty sure it's a modified version of the CoH 1 model. Currently that thing is huge and gets stuck on a lot of things due to its size.

I'll rather pay 5f and 20mp instead of 55munitions (specially early on). The MG bug (if that is still a thing), the switch on the meta to captain and the fast M5 is what makes it less reliable.

imo the 221 was more efficient against snipers... .
A cost decrease for the auto gun upgrade or some sort of armor buff would have been way better

To all you who say the 221 was better vs infantry. What are you basing this off of? The 222 has the machine gun the 221 had + the 2cm. Like seriously.

I think this is the 222 MG bug we're talking about back in the day. Not sure if it still exists since the 221/2 aren't that great while chasing:

I tested it and it didn't really seem like the 222 wanted to use it's MG at all. But I would be fine with them removing the MG from the upgrade and simply giving the autocannon more punch so it could take on stuff more reliably and see the armor or health get a bit of an increased.

All coming with a cost increase ofc, but I like more stuff more usable than spammable.

I disagree with OP, 2cm gun was not only obligatory but a no-brainer.

That said I think they should have instead given the 221 alternate powers that make you choose between increased AI firepower and utility abilities like camouflage, marking targets, etc. to give the 221 some non-combat roles that support your other units. I mean it was a scout car, not a shredder on wheels.

A bit of an OT idea: the scout car could instead come as 2cm, but also can upgrade to use the 2.8 AT heavy rifle for longer-ranged vehicle-oriented roles.

If it's really an issue they can always just add the 221 as a separate cheaper buildable unit and the 222 can still be its current slightly more expensive version I guess. *Shrug*

I'm inclined to agree that the 222 was a no-brainer upgrade and it being stock now is at least part of the reason why the Lt. tier is more or less dead. The ability to spend the Munis on something else in exchange for 5 fuel seems like a pretty sweet deal to me.

Apart from the quad silencing this unit, it has no issues. 55 muni to spend on an LMG or Faust, there aren't any downsides once M5 is fixed.
