*update:
We'll open a sign-up/check-in today June 9th at 3:45pm CEST (2:45pm in London, 6:45am Pacific, 9:45am Eastern). Just sign up with your Steam name. The thread will get locked after 1h at 4:45pm CEST.

Brackets will be generated on challonge and the tourney will start at 5pm CEST (4pm in London, 8am Pacific, 11am Eastern).

I'm thinking of running a for-fun tourney tomorrow. My plan would be to create a double-purpose sign-up and check-in thread tomorrow at 3:45pm CEST. Then I'd close the sign-ups at 4:45pm CEST and start the tourney at 5pm CEST. I'd make the rounds Bo1 and Bo3 depending on the size to be sure it wouldn't run too long.

The main impetus for this would be to give good balance feedback to Relic. So I'd encourage you guys to exploit the shit out of whatever OP stuff you can find.

You're welcome to run a Bo3 Double-Elim tourney any time you want bro, but I don't have 12 hours for this. It would be a one-day thing that will need to finish in 6 hours or less.

Then you hope all tournaments have small participant numbers and long durations.

ESL frequently runs open SC2 tourneys to quali for their bigger events. Some have 1024 participants. How do you suggest doing something like that w/o Bo1? IMO you're being a bit unreasonable.

I'm up for a tournament but I'd like to have a different set up than the traditional ones where we used to play potentially like 6-8 hours of CoH in a day and half of that can sometimes be simply waiting around. Maybe have less rounds or spread them out over the course of more days. Or have a predetermined top 8 in the final 16 and have the qualifiers over a number of days.

Ok let's do this. I made an event on Steam. It won't be anything fancy Sepha, just a quickie single-elim. There will be a big balance patch coming, so we can maybe do something a little fancier next Sunday. But let's talk about that in the staff room.

We'll open a sign-up/check-in thread tomorrow at 3:45pm CEST (2:45pm in London, 6:45am Pacific, 9:45am Eastern). Just sign up with your Steam name. The thread will get locked after 1h at 4:45pm CEST.

The tourney will start at 5pm CEST (4pm in London, 8am Pacific, 11am Eastern).

I made an event in the coh2.org steam group too. We'll all meet in coh2.org steam group chat. Round format will depend on # of players. I encourage everybody to stream their games and post replays and stuff, but nothing is required. Just report results to me on steam and I'll put you through.

As I was reading this thread, a Steam notification popped up in the corner of my screen to tell me about... this tournament. GL HF to everyone who gets to participate (rather than read for an exam)
