#esports?

As far as the game never being designed to be competitive - it is completely irrelevant to the potential for the game to become a competitive esport. Look at SSBM, Hearthstone, DoTA (back in wc3 days), WoW, etc.
I'd wager that the majority of highly competitive titles did not start out being designed for competition. At this point most of them incorporate it as a result of what the community has done to turn the game into a competitive title, but yeah, being designed to be a competitive esport or a casual game has no direct impact on a game's ability to be a competitive title.

As far as I understand it is basically mocking the concept that Relic has said they want to promote and grow the competitive scene, yet allow airplane crashes destroy entire armies, or vehicles go through 3 death crits - only to be recaptured, etc etc.
But even though they said that their decisions say otherwise. I think its more likely they just said that for good PR or something, rather than genuinely trying to tailor the game for competitive play and failing.
Who the fuck is this guy?
You must be new around here.

Yup, that's the irony of the #esports thing.
They say they want to develop a competitive game, yet some of their design decisions are inherently not competitive.

I mean...you can't rage that hard. You just can't. Unless you take the Airplane movies seriously or something.

Why is everyone these days sarcastically posting #esports every time there is a pic or video of bugs, RNG bullshit, etc? I get the impression its mocking Relic for their game not being very competitive? Old news people. They never intended the game to be super competitive, we've known this for a long time now. Is there some false hope this game will be esports or something?
It is just a fad. You can compare it too the MVgame and Kappa crap. You are going to attract some trolls with this question btw lol. You already reeled one of them in. Queen is the name.. Drama is her game..

Permanently BannedI get that its making fun of Relic. What I don't get why is everyone thinks Relic really is trying to push the game in to ESL or competitive gaming. Their decisions show they don't really care about making a esport level game, its just publicity.
Inst that what makes the joke funny?

what I don't get is why you don't get the irony of people using '#esports'.
