All you have to do is grab some chemlights, throw 1 and pick it up. It will give you enough light to see what is around you. No need to have a flashlight for that (I've never ever used a flashlight in DayZ ; And I played it ALOT).


Pfft... chem lights.
Escape -> Options -> Graphics -> Gamma + Brightness to the riiiiiiiiight

I am a terrible person.

I'll give this a go next time I've got a few friends on.

This might tempt me back into Dayz. Played it a shitton in the early alpha last year but eventually lost interest what with all the hackers and so on turning it into Battlefield with zombies.

- Removed 50cal. weapons (AS 50, M107) replaced with G36a cammo.
- Removed barbwire, replaced with sandbags

I think spawning with map and compass plus veteran for waypoints makes the starting game too easy. No map, no compass FTW - I love being lost and fucking up navigation and ending up at Berezino by accident.

Agreed, having a map and a compass right away is too easy. I'd rather start with nothing at all, just for the fun of it :P

I think it helps get people off the coast faster, but it could always change. Friday DayZ, lets roll and get the server populated for the weekend!

I think no compass or map would just mean lots of noobs running to cherno/electro and camping on roofs with a enfield because the map spawn is retarded rare. We can navigate without them but not everyone else has played over 150 hours on Chernarus.

Thing is, atm we're trying to attract players to our server. I've already edited the starting loadout to a makarov with 2 mags, machete, map and compass which doesn't mean that it'll always be there not to mention the large amount of vehicles on the coast all of which are fully repaired and fueled.

We're all pretty much vetted players here and we'll start removing the noob friendly items as soon as our server gains a decent amount of regulars that we don't need all that "retarded" crap :p
