The dream is over boys :

By Cynthia

We don't have any plans to develop a Japanese faction at this time. I know that the term Jap is likely being used as a shortened version of Japanese here, but the term is often considered a racial slur and not something we allow here. Please keep this in mind for the future

You can play as the Japanese in CoH2, just only use cons with no PPsH, biggest AT gun you can have is a 42mm and the biggest tank you can have is a t-70 :snfPeter:

To clarify: I have never seen "Japs", or "John Jap", or "Nips" as racial slurs. It is the equivalent of "Tommy/Tommies" or "Jerries".

"Japs" is short for Japanese; " Nips" is short for "Nipponese" (which is closer to the Western version of pronouncing 'Nihon' =Japan).

EDIT: there are instances, where names used 70 years ago may now be inappropriate. Although, in an historical context, how far do you extend censorship?

e.g. the name of Guy Gibson's dog.

'Japs', is considered derogatory and most definitely is a racial slur. At least in Australia anyway where it is, or was, commonly used as one.

Thank you :)

I am not Australian.

EDIT: Why would "Jap" be a racial slur in Australia?

Japs wouldn't be a bad idea i think, the only problem they had was weaker armor on tanks

The heaviest Japanese tank was basically a worse Sherman. It was also produced in less numbers than the KT.

I couldn't exactly say why. I think the connotations began post WW2.
I can only confirm from my own personal experience of growing up in Oz that it most definitely was a slur during the 80's and onwards...

This saddens me. With a Confirmed no Japanese Faction there will be no Pacific Theater. But could that mean a Italian/African Setting with appropriate factions???!!!??!

yea, compare japan industry to USA, and the place where they've fight, Japs for 8 years were fighting in hill and mountains area so they never needed heavier stuff
