Vs. Penal Flamers + Mortar on Stalingrad

How do you beat this? I played a game as OKW (south spawn) on Stalingrad against a Sov. player who build nothing except penals upgraded with flamers. Since the map forces QCB about 90% of the time, there wasn't much I could do; and when I was winning a fight, he'd just start hitting it with an 81mm mortar.

Even with majority map control, I couldn't do very much. I did get out a Luchs, but it only lasted until he got a single T34 (party because of my fault). By mid-late game I pretty much had to chose between fuel and muni, and hoped that Pscrecks would win - they didn't; but a single Panther wouldn't have done much with no AT support.

Regardless, I'm kind of at a loss of what I could have done.

I go for my 3-veto-strategy on Stalingrad right away, veoting it as my first choice.

But I already vetoed all the snow maps :(

I guess. Is stalingrad really that bad? I only started playing a few days ago after a 1.25 year break; so I really have no idea what's going on in the meta (other than blobs, and flamers, which apparently still work).

Nah it's not about blobs or anything. It's just that usually all engagements on these maps are close quarter ones, with a lot of flanking routes and shot blockers, which make it ideal for Allies and hard for Axis to set up a clear frontline.

I recommend vetoing it.

Veto is the only viable tactic for this map as OKW.
