What you talking about man? Everyone knows how famous the Swiss Navy is. Having served in the Swiss Navy from the age of 16, I can definitely attest to the ferocity of its maritime feats.

I'd say in modern times, only the US navy is better equipped. In the 1940's, Britain and the US were the only nations who had a better Navy (maybe Japan, but it'd be a close fought thing).

In no doubt IJN was a good navy in early wartime, Zero was indeed a decent plane. Their self-overestimation and reluntant to research an more advanced fighter, and US ultra-superior war industry making the Japs stand no chance.

Bigger warship was just a bigger target for the dive bombers, aircraft carriers and their planes are actually backbone of the Navy.

bigger warships held bigger guns which was better, pre carrier, which was when battleships were designed and conceptualized. there are lots of good reasons battleships disappeared after WWII. korea was the last major fight afaik that had battleships play a significant part. during the gulf war they mostly launched cruise missiles and were decommissioned for 30 years in between.
