What do you think of an SU-85 buff?
1. T4 is quite expensive
2. The unit itself is pretty expensive (340/120)
3. A little underwhelming in performance (imo)
I still like to build them, but I feel that it is pretty expensive for what you are getting. I forgot the cost of T4, but you are forking out at least 200 fuel(?) just to get the SU85 out. I think the Panther comes out a little bit later after the SU85, but I could be wrong. Players generally build T4 for the Katyusha and ignore the SU85 and SU76.
Performance-wise I think this unit could use a slight buff. I think it could use a slight increase in penetration or damage. It also suffers from pretty bad pathfinding. Its movement and turning speed could be adjusted as well. I am not asking for all these changes, but I think a little buff could go a long way.

The only thing I would change is front armor. Little buf in this case let's say to 160 and Im good.

I compared the two a little while ago;
Jagdpanzer 4 is far better but it is more expensive. Jagdpanzer 4 has some really great veterancy too:
Jagdpanzer IV:
Vet1: Ability (Camouflage Ability)
Vet2: +10% armor, +160 HP, +35% sight radius
Vet3: +20% rotation, +20% max speed, -10% reload
Vet4: -25% reload, +30% accuracy
Vet5: Gains "First Strike" bonus when attacking from camouflage
... as you can see the Vet2 bonus for the Jagdpanzer is crazy good. +35% sight radius is basically permanent SU-85 vision cone with no mobility disadvantage. +160 health gives it 800 health; the same as the Panther. It's basically one extra tank shot before death which is real nice.
For the sake of balance I'll snag the SU-85's vet bonuses:
Vet 1: Tracking Ability (Increased vision range)
Vet 2 -30% Reload +30% Accuracy
Vet 3 -20% Reload +20% Max Speed +20% Acceleration +20% Rotation
... Personally I find the SU-85 rather lacking at the moment as its armor is so low that only auto-cannon units like the Ostwind will fail to penetrate it reliably. Its range is a boon but range is essentially map dependent.
Jagdpanzer 4 is pretty excellent although I don't use it much. I get a lot more out of the Puma which is just a little more flexible of a unit and arrives at a more favorable timing. It's a great unit to have in one's toolbox though as a dedicated tank hunter late game.

I love SU85. Get vet 3 and melt everything except JT.
The only thing I would change is front armor. Little buf in this case let's say to 160 and Im good.
That would be nice but I think the SU85 fits into an ambush role like the Hetzer. However, it doesn't have that "shock" value of a sneaky TD.
Nah since WFA release people cunt who use SU-85 dropped approx. to few players. That damn thing can't hit a kubel|puma|luchs.
Someone could use math to prove me wrong, but there was this game where I blasted a kubel and it still lived Kubels should die form one hit form the SU85

That happens pretty consistently. Same thing with the ZiS 3. I like how Katyushas (and Panzerwerfers) that come out way later and cost an arm and a leg get one-shotted by PaK's or Panzer IV's, but god forbid the tier 0, 240 manpower Kubel gets 1-hit by an 85mm anti-tank round.

And I know this is going to be brought up at some point.
However JP4 (135/.66=205, almost as much as T4+SU85= 230 or 240) can't be spammed due to OKW fuel income(2nd JP4 cost a lot more fuel than 2nd SU85). so RELIC probably think it needs better vets and front amror(230 vs 140), also SU85 have better long range pen(200/190/180 vs 200/185/170) and better scatter. I do think all non doc TDs should have front armor on the JP4 level instead of the Jackson/SU85/Stug E level.
Also, kubel have 190 hp so that's why 160 dmg AT guns & TDs don't one shot it.

I'd like to see this unit improved but I'm not sure how, exactly. Its cost is so high and its performance is so bad that I don't even know where to begin. Then again compared to the SU-76...
You know people saying this kind of crap makes me realise how spoiled allied players are witth their e-8. 85 spam.

People like the Jagdpanzer IV that much? Hmm, I find I have better success with the SU-85, although that could be pure fluke. Is the SU-85 faster than the JPIV?
Marginally( 5.7max 2.1 accel vs 5.5 max 1.9 accel), SU-85 have higher mid/long range pen(190/180 vs 185/170), shorter reload(4 sec vs 4.75 sec with more RNG) & less scatter plus Soviet generally have more vehicle snare available(AT nade or button) than OKW(only Falls and Fusilier, both need doc: Falls are too fragile and Fusilier AT rifle nade have the same shortcomings as Rifle AT nade ) probably explain how you feel it is better.
JP4's edge is in its front armor(230 vs 140) & Vet.

When is the last time you have seen SU85's spammed? I can answer that, never. Want to know why? Volks with Shreks, PaK40, Puma, PGrens with Shreks, blitz, smoke. The axis swim in effective AT options that counter the SU85 HARD. For all the risk associated with producing a SU85 you think it would actually be good at its job, but it is not.
