Welcome to my new map: Chaumont!
The map is basing on the historical battle of Chaumont. The 4th US armoured division tried to open the road to lift the siege of Bastogne. Chaumont was a small village with strategic impackt. German troops west of Bastone were supplied by the roads near Chaumont and Hompre. Chaumont was defended by the 5. Fallschirmjäger-Division and the 26. Volksgrenadierdivision.
Solider! Now it is up to you! Take command of the us forces or of the german troops and change the history!
Chaumont, a small and lovely village close to Bastogne. At the morning of the 23rd December 1944 Colonel Irzyk, commanding a Sherman tank combat group from the 4th armoured US division tried to open the route to Bastogne. During the battle 18 Shermans were destroyed by german gun fire. After the battle Colonel Irzyk reported that the Shermans were killed by Germany's new tank destroyer, the Jagdtiger. After the war us officers questioned the commanding officer of the german defenders, General Kokott. He reported that a couple of hours before the Colonel Irzyk started his attack an unknown german Major contacted him. This Major should enforce the Panzer-Lehr-Division west of Bastogne. Kokott said that the Major was commanding 4 "Tiger tank destroyers". Till today the myth of the Jagdtiger tanks at Chaumont isnt solved.
