Grey Goo - From C&C Creators

So this is a new title I heard about a few days ago for the first time.

http://www.greybox.com/greygoo/en/

Basically it's an attempt by Petroglyph studios to take RTS games back in time and strip them down to the basics that made C&C and it's ilk. More emphasis on macro and strategy than micro and tactics.

Personally I'm really interested in seeing how this pans out, while I do enjoy CoH2, I find that it (and CoH1) had a big focus on micro, more than I enjoy personally. They also completely lack base-building and resource gathering in the traditional sense.

I'd really like to see a traditional RTS like this take off. I can't think of anything else on the horizon quite like it, maybe except for Age of Mythology Remastered, which is of course, a remake.

Anyone else?

sounds interesting but probably too futuristic for me.

If I did have one complaint about the game, it's that I don't really like the Sci-Fi look and aesthetics either, but if the gameplay can bring back a nice meaty base-building and resource gathering RTS I'll enjoy it.

I just wish someone would make a good C&C game again.

Hell, Reboot the series and start at Tiberium Dawn - just make a good game ffs...

Although this looks interesting to me.... after the abysmal ground combat of Empire at War, I'm not so sure.. that was Pteroglyph right?

I know what you mean, seems like EA is looking for a new dev to make C&C reboot, but they've been looking since 2012, so don't hold your breath.

I get the feeling this is trying to capture the C&C feel though, which is nice.

I never played Empire at War, but it was the same devs, yes. They also did Universe at War. I haven't played that either, but understand it got ham-strung by using GFWL.

Yeah ground battle of Empire at War was too bad, Rebel inf and stormtrooper is useless, then ATST own everything walk on foot, Rebel arty is a fucking I WIN unit.

But the space combat is super great and fun.

Just saw some gameplay (E3). Some nice ideas in this game, like the blobs running over the field... . I wonder how they gonna balance this out though. Wait and see....

Apologies for the Necro-Bump, but this game out today.

I'm tempted to pick it up, but want to see what the multiplayer is like first. Most reviews/impressions seem to focus on single player.

Anyone here planning on getting it/got it and wants to share their thoughts?

A necro bump indeed, but nothing adverse comes from it, so I am viewing it with a blind eye (this time)...

I will try it for sure. Just need to find cd-key to buy on some auction site because that steam price is...

I love old RTS like Cossacks, Battle for Middle-earth or Empire at War (Disney, make new RTS game!!!!) but I can't anything close to those old RTS games. Hope this will be what I was looking for.

I'm getting tired with CoH2, over 1300h and no patch (Relic!!) so this might be a way out for me.

Someone has it already??

Got a copy on stream two days before launch, been playing it since. It's really refreshing and a lot of fun and the developers seem really nice. I can recommend it.

Not a biggest fan of the art direction in the game, to be completely honest. The goo faction in particular sticks out like a sore thumb and a really lazy design purely art-wise. But the faction seems to suggest otherwise, and quite cool.

Not a big fan of the whole mechanized/tank deluxe spam. It just looks bland and boring, and isn't that very exciting to watch two blobs of tanks with minimal "infantry" utility.

Maybe I'll try it, but I don't have expectations that I will personally enjoy it.
