Okay, sarcasm, got it. Often doesn't translate across text and in a forum rife with babelfish.

One of the biggest things I recall the CoH2 team hailing was the homogenizing of the tables, specifically eliminating that sort of relationship between units. It's what allowed them to make CoH2 support mirror matching. Which was for some reason an important feature.


I haven't used the feature yet, not even in compstomps.

Frankly, I feel that the system was dumbed down rather than homogenized--as a coder in several vCoH mods, maybe that's just because I'm used to the more complicated coding used in vCoH (based off of DoW2's code, iirc--the faction names are even referred to as 'races', for example).

Lack of penetration over range as well as target types means that accuracy values are less important than scatter--on the flip side, this means like units such as the M8 or Puma, that were hard to hit in vCoH, translate poorly into CoH2 when scatter is involved (the tight scatter of most tank guns means that the T70 or SdKfz222 simply get hit by missed shots anyways--this is why recoilless rifles were such a pain in vCoH, their low scatter).

This also means that tanks are worth puke against infantry with regards to killing them unless the tank has a derpily-large AoE (at least an M10 or Marder would peg an infantryman once in a blue moon).

As it stands, vCoH is far more moddable, if you will, than CoH2. I have some CoH2 files made to be opened with Corsix (the program used to mod vCoH), and CoH2's simplicity means that in-depth detailing of small arms and tank weapons over longer ranges is just not possible--in CoH's 1/5th scale world it's hard to have measurements for 100, 500, 1000, and 1500 meters when you can only enter two accuracy/penetration/whatever values (near/far). And, of course, penetration degradation over range isn't even possible in the game's RGD coding (at least as of the tables I can access in Corsix--this is from 2 patches ago before they completely closed off modding). The function/extension simply isn't present.
