This issue started today (12-18-13).
When I and friends try to connect to the game lobby, we are waiting on this screen:

I still have this problem. Anyone managed to fix that ? Tried everything from firewall diactivation to port forwarding. even tried running steam through proxy but still can not play online.

Me 2. It comes and goes.
I find that it sometimes helps to exit the game AND Steam and then restart. So obviously it must be something wrt connectivity, but it makes no sense that I can get matched twice no problem and then BAM! - it decides I have no connection.

I have contacted steam support but all they say is you have to make sure your ports are open. They are open! someone said it might be because of the steam sale and the load on the servers, But I think that is not the issue.
