Advice for a noob needed: Blob control in team games

I'll keep it concise: Sometimes I am having trouble with Fusilier and or Falls blobs as Soviets. Mainly before KV8 obviously. What I try to counter them with:

- double MG (doesn't work too well, and a single MG easily gets taken out before suppression hits)
- mortars for constant MP bleed
- Shock troops
- vehicles, sure, but if you lose it, it feels like I am bound to lose the game then
- KV8 baby, but that's late

Early they are just superior to conscripts when supported with sturmpios, so I can not go CQC. Am I missing a major thing or do I just need to "git gud" with the tools listed above? I'll take that, too, if you say it. But are there any tips besides that? I know fusiliers have no AT and are bad at short range, but a vetted 3-4 squads blob doesn't let anybody close or just retreats early to its forwards HQ.

Maxim in large team modes is effectively useless by itself without Sustained Fire (very good ability BTW, you will suprise the enemy with how quickly it suppresses blobs)

- Mortars are good when enemy spams support weapons or plays behind cover alot. They will definitely bleed the enemy but god help you if they flank lol

- Shock troops counter support weapons effectively, afaik they counter other blobs less effectively (especially long range blobs like pfusi G43 blobs) because while they are the best close range assault specialist, they are also close range specialist, so they will lose health and drop models on the approach in an open area.

- T70 is a very effective counter to blobbing, I've found. You can kite the blob very well with the T70 and it becomes a monster with veterancy. (Though it is obviously a glass cannon, you must be sure there are no AT guns supporting the blob before you try to be cute with it). T34 as well, because its main gun is no joke.
Katyusha is the big counter to blobs though. Shotgun katyusha FTW.

- KV8 good against infantry blob, but not when they spam tank destroyers.

-Use sustained fire on maxims
-Zis gun barrage
-Backpedaling T70
-Su-76 barrage
-Close range Katyusha
(-demo charges hidden under bushes, abandoned team weapons and at angles hidden by default camera angle)

That is very true and even though I forgot to mention it in my opening post I always build at least one Katy against blobbers. However, Katyusha is T4 and comes quite late, until then a pfusi+G43 spam supported with an AT gun seems to be a reliable strategy for axis players?
I always thought it's a noob strategy that bleeds the blobber too much manpower ...

Thanks for the sustained fire tip for the maxims, I did not have that on my radar!

Try replacing the T70 by a M5 upgraded to suppress him from range.

Maxim with cons should be more than enough to be honest. Just don't use your cons to fight them, but rather to reinforce the maxim which has MASSIVE AoE supression.

Grenadier/Panzergrenadier/Panzerfusilier G43's are close-mid range weapons similar to the Rifleman's M1 Garand. The only long range G43 is the Marksman variant used by OKW Jaeger Light Infantry Recon.

Fair enough. But I was meaning to say that Shocks will bleed on the approach. And at the very least, pfusis are better long range than shocks.

Agree but also need to pop Sustained Fire beforehand.

Although it doesn't initially have the best suppression. One nice thing about the Maxim besides the Sustained Fire, is that although it does now take longer to deploy, similar to most HMGs. It can still pack up and retreat very quickly, not to mention merge to to give it more field presence

Mortars work best if you force them to stay still (just use a conscript behind sandbags as bait). Likewise Maxims can be used to stall (you don't have to pin just slow him down enough to do damage). If they are just moving around constantly trying to outmuscle you then mortars are a lost cause. The key in general is always force them to bleed more MP than you and wear them down. If you can't win an engagement or do enough damage to kill models then it's best to just retreat. You want to force the blober to attack into you when you are behind cover. Once you have tanks and katushya you can punish them harder beyond just stalling.

Early game:
Fussies:
For early game, use maxim or conscripts or penals. They will trade well on most maps.

Late game:
Fussies and/or falls:

Generally for anti blob control you want to use the katy. If the enemy is blobbing 4+ units together, a good katy barrage can do wonders and force a lot of squads away. And place mines on key chokepoints where the blob might go across.
If the enemy is blobbing before the katy timing. Quad is good. Again, you need to worry about a-move raketen that can just retreat. Most OKW players play really aggressively with the raketen and usually it's double raketen, so 2-shot LVs are tricky to use. If the enemy has raketen + big blobs of doom then just use double maxim + mines. More than enough.
Soviets have the best anti-blob units in their stock roster:
Katy, ZiS/SU76 barrage (I like to play double SU76 into a heavy tank), double maxim (worst MG but still an MG), mines.

Again, best anti blob is katy. It will absolutely demolish if you shotgun a blob.

And?
Are you trying to tell us that you struggle to fight suppressed infantry?

No, I'm trying to tell you I wish that mines suppressed like in CoH1. No need to imagine when I've already posted it for all to see.

Yeah, and ih CoH2 the only way for squad to be effective in such circumstances is to crawl forward and nuke MG with grenades. Surpression still causes massive debuffs, and in caught within MG ark, this is guaranted pin.

Mines are really good to bleed german blobs in midgame - at that point sturms are either mining their own points or dead already, so there is only mainline in the blob, thus no way to detect a mine.

Good idea for soviets is to spam flare-mines on corners or roads - you can spot that blob coming, prepare the "party" for it, and still bleed a couple of models from different squads.

Or you can always outblob your opponent with guards/SVTcons, brenblob, barblob+Browning. Can't beat them - infiltrate their ranks.
