Should the commander's upgrade of the obersoldatens be able to shoot through smoke, i think the infrared Stg44 it's underpowered because of it's very situational moments

The irony there is that most smoke is generated via phosphorus which blocks infrared radiation.
From a gameplay perspective, no. Infrared Obers are good enough as it is.

In reality it was a defensive weapon lugged up to trenches and defensive positions to increase visibility at night. It was too heavy for offensive use.
I would like to see it buff LoS like pyro Tommy, be given long range DPS boost but come with same movement penalty Heavy sappers get

A) I think infrared actually cannot see through some chemical smokes like WP (I know gas grenade isn't a WP smoke)
B) IR STGs are incredibly good because they negate a large part of cover bonuses. Unless your opponents are A-move blobbing all the time over open ground, they're really useful.

I think it better bounld with some other passive ability or rework be call-in special unit,at least it should not need T4 upgrade
