Does anyone know if its possible to convert Coh 2 models for use in Coh 1 without loading them back into 3ds Max?

I dont think so. The skeleton/rigging of the models are different, and not to mention the art-style is somewhat different aswell. You'd need to put it through a proper rework to use them.

I gathered as much considering the gap between the two games, but I thought I would ask.
I don't suppose anyone knows where to get the tools for coh1 model editing as cant find them (practically a compatible version of 3ds max)?

You used to be able to.
Someone put the JgPanther into COH2 from COH1.
Sega ordered Relic to cripple the mod tools, and... no more.
