What unit do you miss from COH1?

Pretty much what the title says. What unit or units do you miss from coh1/opposing fronts or vCOH? Units that were in those games but are not in this one. This is just a post made out of curiosity, and I don't want to start a list of copy/paste units for upcoming DLC commanders.

Try to include in your post:

What was the unit.

What did you like about the unit.

What's the closest COH2 unit in feel/style, and what are the differences from that unit.

-Alternatively you can list a unit in COH2 that has a very different feel from any of the units in the coh1 games and make similar comparisons.

Thank you all in advance for indulging my curiosity.

The Puma. Ripped infantry to shreds, that thing did. Shame the new 222 doesn't quite pack the same anti-infantry punch, though it's perfectly understandable for balance reasons. Closest thing in CoH2? Probably the Flamer-halftrack or Ostwind- nothing else in the German arsenal comes close in killing infantry (except maybe the Brumm).

Another unit- the Nebelwerfer, for it's firing noise and the AOE DOT it did. The Panzerwerfer has the noise but not the flames, and you don't see T4 ofen in 1v1s.

Still hoping for these two units in a DLC or something- Puma with 50mm seems quite close to a T70 analogue. The Nebel could be the 120mm mortar's evil german cousin, a call-in mobile arty piece.

Nebelwerfer, for sure. The panzerwerfer is obviously the most similar unit, but like Strummingbird said, you rarely see it in 1v1 because it's in T4. Also, the panzerwerfer is so fragile (and unrecrewable), doesn't have the same area of effect, and doesn't do the suppression of a nebelwerfer.

Another thing: the panzerwerfer got moved from T3 to T4 at some point during the beta, but the announcer still says that "rocket artillery is at our disposal" when you finish teching to T3 O_o

Ok now that makes a whole lot more sense. "Medium armor and rocket artillery is at our disposal!"

I do like nebels a lot more than panzerwerfers, but I always liked infantry based artillery more than motorized ones in general.

I miss MG42s that dealt moderate suppression over a decent area rather than almost instantly suppressing a single unit with very little splash suppression.

rifles.

How true!
I'm really missing units with rifles as well.
Not these BB guns toys the current units got.

Oh, and tank traps.
Not sure if they qualify as a unit - they had a health bar though ;)

If Strategic Depth were a unit that's the one I miss most.

Its not so much units that I miss, rather its the variety of ways you could use them. Combined with Doctrines, there was so many ways to play, win and lose a game.

Like budwise said, I miss strategic depth more than anything else.
Therefore, its more me disliking way the units are now than missing old ones. Specifically superweapons (Elephant, KV8, etc)

I dont want to be coy here.. but I miss they way the units moved and fought from the first game.

It was glory to behold, and nothing in coh2 so far comes close. Doesn't matter if it was mortars, arty, the bike, the pershing it was all beautiful.

Right now the game is good, I'm glad to see relic coming in and participating ect but as a coh game it cant simply be good, it needs to be amazing and without the right changes its not going to be.

It has a lot of the right ingredients, but things need to be looked into and the right people need to be listened to before coh2 becomes a truly fantastic game.

THE JEEP!

Pushing, especially and the versatile mobility + a decent survivability for nothing but MP.

Plus an occasional game of jeep spam for giggles.
