Nice move by my opponent to mount his Panershrecks in his half-track and blitz my tank but the T-34 had acceleration increases in recent patches so... sorry
At 2:40 I make a 2nd Combat Engineer to get the tier 2 Special Weapons building out but the moment my Conscripts see the watchtower being captured I know I want to put up a fight there so I instantly cancel the CE and upgrade the Field Infirmary to heal the inevitable damage from that engagement.
At this point I sacrifice some micro with my Conscripts and lose a few models in favor of getting tier 2 down the moment I had 240 manpower.
We're trying to conserve fuel in this build so I'm not going to get another Conscript upgrade. Instead I spend 60 munitions to upgrade my CE with a ROKS-3 flamethrower to help as a force multiplier to help push back in the center without wasting precious fuel or manpower on Molotovs or another Conscript.
If I had somehow taken the center at this point I would spend the munitions on mines at the chokes instead to fend off armor. And maybe even skip Field Infirmary to have fuel to get T3 out even faster.
At 4:40 I see the opponent capping a territory point and I immediately fan out my troops to yellow cover. Do this to reduce incoming splash damage and to improve your sight radius in many directions while simultaneously concealing your troops.
I normally go Maxim first but mortars are so good on blizzard maps and I wanted to get the MG42 out of the watchtower without taking casualties. Lucky for me my opponent also built one and Soviet mortars outperform them for sure.
At 10:15 I land a perfect blind mortar hit and my Recon Overflight let's me see everything. Around 14:00 I start using the vet 1 precision strike with the mortar to concentrate damage on the infantry then the mortar halftrack. My T70 does some sweet ice-skating, farms some anti-tank kills for his bulletin and it's over just like that.

Briggs why you never watch from my perspective? If its only because Ostheer is the default in replays then will you indulge me for just one cast pretty please?
Also I liked your commentary on the mortar. It's not about how many kills it gets, it's about suppression and area denial.
I usually use the Guards Motor Coordination Tactics doctrine since the tier one call-ins fill in the perfect timing around 5:30 minutes for a guard vs tier 2 or a 120mm vs tier 1 without having to spend fuel or worry about if you went tier one or two already and to support your second key push. This leaves your fuel income flowing to rush tier three.
Soviets may be the aggresive faction, but they're also the reactive (counter) faction. I try to play them like Zerg and create counter units based on scouting via pushing hard into their territory around 2:30-3:00 minutes into the game to force their more elite units to reveal themselves. Smart retreating is a key here.
Next a tank comes in to counter his... everything and I tend to be cautious at this point and not base rush but maybe just build another mortar or piece of artillery to knoc on his doorstep like an annoying Jehova's Witness of Death
Also thank you kindly for your praise at the end of the video I've only been playing the COH series since closed beta and I've been posting a lot of replays in hopes of people helping me get better including critique.
