I believe I started badly, but using the OP OKW anti inf gun you're able to make pushes slowly. Get AT, shreks.... ubersoldiers and you can make comebacks.
My random mate/partner had a new doc I've never seen before. Scavanger Doctrine. Sounds pretty nasty.
