Really don't understand this. I managed to wipe 2 entire con squads yet still manage to be behind. It's very frustrating when you feel like your efforts are not rewarded. If Ostheer loses their mg42 it's a huge blow however soviet players can lose a couple of cons like it's nothing. Something is wrong with this picture imo.

Hi, it would be helpful if you elaborate exactly what you think the balance issues were, as otherwise, i'm afraid it comes across as a knee jerk post :)

I did not watch it live, so don't know the context. After briefly watching it though, soviet t2 play counters Grens, which gave him map and things rolled from there. You got the better of squad wipes, but ran out of time. I have posted about this commander before, and the combo of t2/t4 and the T-34/85 makes it a very safe commander, along with strafe and conscript abilities.

The mortar halftrack did not pay off in time for you, call it rng or unit use from you. Personally I prefer the sniper to counter t2 play as I feel more in control of that then mortars and it forces a counter or them to rely on the mortar/rng.

That is my reading of it anyways. I don't think i'd label it terrible balance, but then without any context or elaboration in the original post *shrug*.

I posted this quickly as I was still playing I will now edit my first post.

Yeah, two con losses don't matter, unlike say a Pgren wipe or two gren wipes.

That's Soviets for you, it's why I only play Ostheer 1v1 when I really want a challenge, it's a lot like vCOH, lose the first MG and you lose the game.

If you have really good squad preservation as Sovs and take little MP loss then you end up floating a ton of MP midgame and can OP whatever, build whatever, make an artillery, etc. I don't think I've ever had that luxury playing Ostheer, the squads are just more expensive to reinforce.

Appreciate the expanding upon. In a general wider sense, I would agree that Soviets, in my opinion, are easier to play and a more forgiving faction to mistakes. Certainly took me more practice with them to get to a decent level where I feel somewhat comfortable handing the Germans.

I don't feel like I can comment on the top level play, but I don't think the balance is terrible, but one faction is more difficult to use effectively in the current patch.

In the context of this particular game, I would not call it terrible balance myself, although you were wrong side of the hedgerow with the worse cutoff, which is difficult and hopefully gets addressed at some point.

If you lose the first MG, you lose the game? Is that true?

In my experience, even at the top level of play it happens, usually on retreat because of the length of time it takes to pack it up. So a player may see the flank opt to retreat instead of re-positioning and still lose the MG to a flame crit or whatever.

Once a Sov player has your MG on the maps with cut-offs it will come back with 6 guys and park there with 3-4 SMG cons around it :) Yeah, that's GG. You might be able to get out with a mortar, but you will be outteched.

Now compare to that getting your cutoff camped on North Langres as Soviets - I have come back with multiple snipers from that kind of cutoff camp because I am causing him such manpower bleed that I can eventually still catch up and have enough AT out to deal with the PzIV or whatever. The T34s will probably outnumber your PziV 3-1 if you do manage to come back from that situation as Ostheer. Or Katy + SU85, multiple SU76s, SU85 + T34/85, same impossible situation.

I think a solution could be to lower MP reinforce costs on Ostheer squads...Pgrens 45MP a dude, when they get wiped as easily as a gren squad from mortars, snipers, etc., is just too much. But generally the MP bleed as Ostheer is so severe that comebacks are very difficult.

Sorry Hans but you lost this fairly,

You needed that pak gun out earlier and a second mg to protect it once it was out.
two regular mortars would have cleared the centre of the map much quicker and allowed you to take control of the centre.

You normally get a halftrack to re-inforce your squads, how come you didn't get one this game?

As the Germans you do need to bleed the soviets a lot more than the other way around. Has been like that for a long time. Why those new S mines are so handy. They help considerably with that.

I watched this game live and when Hans wiped the 2 con squads the enemy didnt even twitch. its as if the losses didnt hamper his ability to keep up the pressure at all.

Unless its a Guard or Shock, Russians dont give a F about losing a squad.
