Great quality content, but literally nothing to do with this game. I love it for what it is, but it's very random in this context.

We will focus on ingame units again when Random has this finished :) I just thought it deserved to get promoted because he put so much effort in it :)

Yes, but....

Today we won't talk about a unit that is featured in CoH2....

There is sadly, no official history section on this board which enables broader discussion.. But we cannot expect interested posters to stay like blinkered horses, focussing solely on the armies, ignoring the WWII air forces and navies. Otherwise, we might develop a Relic perspective on WWII :jk:

If there was an official history section on this board there would be an inter-community war on who won ww2. Moderators would be coming in shifts. Think it's better if we don't have that.....for now. :D

On reflection, that may be a horrible truth :D

Its fair to mention that of the 40,000 submariners, 30,000 of those perished (approx). Staggering number of deaths for the uboat arm. I have read Blairs "Uboat The Hunters" and "Uboat the Hunted" a few times along with numerous other books from the commanders and submariners perspective. It was truely a horrifying experience being attacked when 80-120m under water. I highly suggest "Night of the Uboats" which is a book written from the perspective of the merchantman when uboats swarmed and destroyed convoy SC7. It was not a fun experience for a lonely merchantman floating in a leaky lifeboat in the middle of the Atlantic either.

Anyway glad you did this, I am fascinated with German Uboats, especially the exploits of the type 7s. They were beautiful workhorses that performed elite roles.

Type VII also featured in a great film "Das Boot". One of my favorite WW2 films.
