"War Spoils solutions, Modding support"

The former was just not going to be talked about at Gamescom, but they're working on it.

The latter was mentioned in the stream.

If the content has good production value, I don't mind the singleplayer and multiplayer aspects being developed separately. That being said, if one were to buy both factions and the new SP campaign, the price shouldn't exceed $45.

Anything above that wouldn't be in line with an expansion pack model. I am disappointed that nothing was shown with the announcement, it always seems like Relic is in a hurry to push news out, and when they do, there's a serious lack of clarity and communication. They need to slow it down and be more methodical in their approach.

A trailer or at least gameplay was supposed to be shown, but Twitch was having technical problems, so now they're gonna put out a trailer/gameplay video in a bit on the COH youtube channel.

"All New Standalone Single-Player Expansion Reliving the Infamous Battle of the Bulge", why is the Battle of the Bulge Infamous? US wins at the end right?

I believe it's considered infamous because that was the battle that caused the greatest amount of American losses during the war. The German offensive caught the Allied forces off-guard and thus created a "bulge" when the defensive lines buckled.

The battle itself has been the subject of many movies and documentaries, and since it took place during the winter, Relic could even utilize some of its snowtech to bring more authenticity to what happened there.

It was one of the last large offensives that was launched by the German Forces, it saw very heavy fighting, etc.

Personally disappointed mainly because for me CoH is not about the single player side, some may completely disagree with this which is fair enough.

It's just after over 600 hours in the game, I have yet to even finish the campaign. Single player in CoH for me just play like a skirmish match vs a bot but you are more limited, you have this units take this point then this point etc I just find it boring and would rather more focus be put on multiplayer.

Like I would love to see them bring in more coop modes like the one in VCoH in which you and up to three friends had to hold off a city from waves of attackers, I would love to see more stuff like that. It just feels like the community have been asking for certain things and relic has just ignored all this and decided to go with something it seems no one wants.

Hopefully when they expansion comes out its amazing and I take back everything I said though.

While the announcement was pretty dull, this will likely make Relic a lot of money. WFA added about 3-4k new players to the game, and many of them are likely interested in single player content. The campaign offers new players the opportunity to learn the game mechanics and unit functions in an environment that is a little more interesting than a comp stomp. The campaign will help the community grow in the long run, I started out playing the vCOH campaign in 2008. Not everyone is comfortable jumping directly into multiplayer. The community at coh2.org is focused almost exclusivly on the competitive multiplayer side of the game, but Relic has more fans to cater to than just that. It is a solid business decision.

That being said, there are soooo many basic game features that have been put on hold for far too long. These need to be a priority, and I'm not sure Relic sees them as such.

Thx Ohme for the good article.
It looks like relic has put some thoughts in this singleplayercampaign and it sounds fun but there are things that should have higher priority, like the many buggs and other issues. Honestly i have seen a list with 30 points on it, which should be fixed.

All I would like to see is optimisation, since the release of WFA game has been running much worse.

Definitely I won't buy this utter shit.

They have seperate teams working on seperate things. Just because they're making a campaign doesn't also mean they don't have a team working on optimization.

To watch that performance from Relic today mad me really sad. The guy from twitch on the stage was bored while interviewing. Come on! The game footage they wanted to show was not shown.
All there was left was a lot of “blabla, we improve the game and work with the community” for 20minutes and the one headline “more camapigns”.
Ok, it is really difficult to be on stage and not be able to show what you anticipated to show.
Still, that was really sad to be part of. Compared to the rest of Gamescom that level of professionalism was - I felt a bit embarrassed for them.

Nevertheless, pressing my thumbs for you guys to make this game successful. Noun, thanks for taking care of us audience!
