How to deal with early game German engineers spam?

When i play against a German player (doesn't matter if he plays whermacht or OBW), the other player tend to spam engineers who use SMG's when the game starts and i cant find any way to counter it. I tried to keep a distance but they simply rush in and kill of my conscripts with theirs SMG's. I tried to make a scout car yet these guys kill it off really quickly too. Is there any way at all to beat this early game SMG spam?

stay at long range with the scout car and chase them with clowncar when they retreat

Stay at range and back up if Axis player gets too close. Use Maxim to cover your approach. He will try to focus down one unit; make sure to have units positioned somewhere else to flank/shoot at exposed sides.

GOing T1: Use the car with flamer unit to drive into or around them. This disrupts the units positioning Or you can stay at range and blast them.

Also, try to dictate where the fight will be. Fighting in a tight spot can be dangerous as the pioneers close range firepower can decimate you. Make sure you have enough room to flank the enemy and get the opportunity to shoot at the enemy from multiple angles.
