Granted this guy was level 17. I thought the possibility of him being a newb was there, and while his micro was pretty good, he had the worst build ever. I can't hate cuz we've all been there. (if only there was some sort of... ladder or... brackets...hmmm)

This was my first game of the night and I wanted to focus on reducing my resource floating as much as possible.

I'm paying attention to manpower for the most part which goes something like:
Conscript float 13

Conscript float 04

Conscript float 137

- note here I was waiting for 240 for a Combat Engineer to build Tier two or for 250 for Field Infirmary if I took losses. I will occasionally make a fourth Conscript here too if I lost my engagements or if he has an MG42 locking down a sector. Upon evaluation of the battlefield (I play Soviets reactively) I saw a perfect timing window for...

Molotovs float 0

Tier Two float 20 - Tier Two and the Maxim ended up having impeccable timing with each other and I just loved the interaction between keeping his grens from standing still with Molotovs while the Maxim charged into battle in true Soviet fashion. It's just such an aggressive unit!

Maxim HMG float 18

Shock Troops - when I finally realized what was happening the timing was perfect for my first command point and I ended it.

Notice the timing of Molotovs was a read of my opponent and I would have normally built another engineer to build tier two while my first engineer lay mines in the South. If this had been a "Molotov" build I could see them being out on the field 26 seconds earlier.

It is honestly disturbing the amount of space you're taking up on this website by posting these replays. On top of this fact, you only play Russians...the far and away OP faction in the game...and then state things like:

"Granted this guy was level 17. I thought the possibility of him being a newb was there, and while his micro was pretty good, he had the worst build ever. I can't hate cuz we've all been there."

Do you post EVERY SINGLE GAME you play? I bet it took you longer to write that bs analysis in the post than play the actual game. I want you to post all the axis games you have played. Then we'll decide who's the "newb".

I'm not sure you have to be a jerk about it, The Dave, but I tend to agree.

It's great that you're posting replays, What Doth Life?!, because few others are, but I think most people aren't posting replays because they aren't playing any good games.

Moreover, it's great that you're enthusiastic and you're clearly thinking a lot about strategies and build orders and stuff, but from the replays of yours I've watched, you're not the best player. That's totally okay - I suck at the game too! But when you're not great at a game, I think a helpful thing to do is to post your replays as ways of asking for tips from better people and as explanations of your thought process so that other people can explain where you're going wrong. I think you're jumping the gun a bit in terms of working out strategies and build order and stuff - how many resources you are floating depends as much on how bad your opponent is at killing your people as it does on your build order and capping order. Since your opponent here doesn't really seem to have had their shit together, I'm not entirely sure how valuable this replay is in terms of nailing down a build order that minimizes resources floated.

I'm only being a jerk because it rubs me the wrong way when he opens his post like he did by calling the guy a "newb" and not very good as he posts a replay beating him.

It's like trying to get people to like you because you pick on the special needs kid in class.

The worst.

Fair points gentlemen. I've only been playing since closed beta so I am a total newb and didn't mean to imply that Unroll is in any way unintelligent, unliked by his peers or has bad taste in music.

I very rarely get matched with really good players, who are the people I want to be playing against, and I've posted when I got beat by one (stevebud.)

As for your statement about Soviets being OP I'd love to know why you think that. Honestly. I haven't been interested in playing Ostheer just yet as I love the flavor of the Soviets. Notice I NEVER clown car and pretty much never spam any units.

I'm actually interested in starting to stream and/or cast and thinking about writing some basic newb strategy guides. None of my IRL friends play COH so I'm trying to get involved in the community. I realize spamming isn't the way to do it so sorry, my baaad.

If anything I think this situation shows why it would be nice to have categories for replays or, better yet, if I could put all of my personal replays into one post.

I'll save this space for "good" replays and I'm sorry that you think Russians are OP. I actually lose to PIV's all the time.

I lose to all sorts of shit but that doesn't mean Russians are or aren't OP. The Dave is talking about good players, and although it's sort of early to call things, it does look like Russians have the upper hand in the current metagame.

Is there not a place to do a replay pack? There was on GR. You basically take all your replays and compress them using winzip or winrar or whatever the kids use these days and just post that. Those who want to sample from that can!
